In excavator operations, the stability of the hydraulic system is critical. However, hydraulic pipe burst (“burst pipe”) is one of the most common, the most painful to the operator of the sudden failure. Burst pipe will not only lead to a large amount of hydraulic oil leakage, equipment downtime, but also often need high cost, long time to repair, seriously affecting the progress of the operation.
In particular, some of the longer life of the equipment, once the burst pipe failure has occurred, the subsequent recurrence is often frequent. Therefore, to master the main reasons for the burst pipe and scientific methods of coping, is a “must” for each driver.
First, the excavator burst 6 common causes
· The use of low-quality hydraulic hose
Part of the user in order to save costs, in the original hydraulic hose damage to choose a cheap alternative. These poor quality products, whether it is the quality of the hose, connector material or buckling process, are far worse than the original standard, poor reliability, short life, very easy to oil leaks or even burst pipe. When replacing the hydraulic hose, you should give priority to the original parts of the regular brand.
· Hydraulic system pressure is set too high
Hydraulic system pressure exceeds the rated standard, will greatly increase the pipeline pressure load, resulting in fatigue damage. It is recommended to test the pressure of the hydraulic pump regularly. If the pressure is found to be too high, it should be adjusted to a reasonable range by a professional in time.
· Hydraulic oil temperature is too high.
Hydraulic system running at high temperature for a long time will lead to aging and failure of seals, softening and expansion of hoses, which will reduce the pressure-bearing capacity of pipelines and increase the risk of pipe burst. High temperatures may also make the spool stagnation, the formation of localized pressure peaks, triggering burst. 4.
· Mixing different models of hydraulic oil
Excavators are usually equipped with 46# hydraulic oil from the factory, and if you mix and add 68# hydraulic oil with higher viscosity, it will affect the stability and fluidity of the system oil, resulting in local high pressure, increasing the burden on the seals, and leading to leakage of the pipeline or cracking.
· Improper operating habits, excessive shock load
rough operation, frequent high-speed, large-scale action, easy to form a violent shock pressure in the hydraulic system. This pressure exceeds the pipeline within a short period of time to withstand the limit, it is very easy to cause the oil pipe joints loose, seal failure or even burst pipe. Standardize the operation of the action to maintain a smooth and gentle is an important part of the protection of equipment.
· Hydraulic tube corrosion or external damage
hydraulic hose, although with a certain degree of corrosion resistance, but long-term exposure to gasoline, diesel, solvents and other corrosive liquids, will deteriorate the structure of the colloid, reducing the ability to withstand pressure; if the pipeline for a long time by the friction or extrusion of external forces, it may also be worn out or fatigue cracking, should be regularly check the state of the protection of the pipeline to keep the exterior clean.
Second, after the burst pipe emergency measures
· Immediate shutdown, loss control
construction if the sudden burst pipe, the first step should be quickly bucket or other operating devices to the ground, immediately shut down the fire to release the system pressure, to prevent the hydraulic fluid continues to leak a lot. This not only reduces the loss, but also reduces environmental pollution and equipment damage. 2.

Hydraulic system pressure is extremely high, the lowest 40 bar/cm², high pressure can even reach 350 bar/cm², do not rush to meet the deadline or temporary coping with the sick work or use temporary pipe replacement. Otherwise, it is very easy to secondary pipe burst, endangering the safety of the operator and the surrounding personnel.
If there is a pipe burst failure on the construction site, it is recommended to immediately contact a professional service personnel, and through the phone, video and other means to clearly communicate the failure point and damage parts, so that technicians can prepare the required accessories and tools in advance, to improve the repair efficiency, shorten the downtime, and minimize the loss.
Although the burst pipe is a small fault, but the safety and economic problems caused by it should not be underestimated. Select high-quality parts, standardize operating habits, strengthen the daily inspection and maintenance, is the fundamental way to prevent pipe burst. Every excavator driver should be alarmed, scientific operation, safe construction.
